Late bronstijd/ijzertijd onderdelen zijn geïntegreerd in de Romaanse bouwwerken

In de Romeinse straat vonden de archeologen een steen met het SOUTHEAST schrift van de Phoeniciers, gebruikt om de weg te plaveien.

Povoado das Mesas do Castelinho is a site with both late Bronzeage / Ironage, Roman and Islamithic archeological findings.
It is recently upgraded and good accessible by a woonden walkpath, around the side, but it is quite a walk.
With clear information boards along the trail.The site gives a very good idea of inhabitants 3000 or more years ago living in the Alentejo area, close to a river.The stones found there are red of iron and you can image how cast iron was made and traded.
Santa Clara-a-Nova has a Archeological / Ethnical Museum
There is a broad gravel road from Santa Clara-a-Nova to the side.
Almodóvar is the nearest town.

Castro de Santa Tegra

In het uiterste zuidwestpuntje van Galicie, aan de rivier de Miño en Atlantische Oceaan, ligt Castro de Santa Tegra. Een steile heuvel met uitzicht op de wijde omgeving. De eerste bewoning vond plaats rond 2000 BC met keltische oorsprong getuige vondsten. Het is daarna bewoond door Romeinen tot 200 AC. Een volk dat handel dreef want er is veel gevonden uit verre streken.
Van de ronde woningen en werkplaatsen is een klein deel blootgelegd.
